Neocatechumenal Communities

MISSION

Cultivating the necessary conversion of our heart, through lifelong catechesis and communion nurtured in small ecclesial communities.

Saint John Paul II discerned its mission when he wrote: “I recognize the Neocatechumenal Way as an itinerary of Catholic formation, valid for our society and for our times.”

Our communities regularly meet to celebrate the Word on Wednesdays and the Eucharist on Saturdays, as well as to spend time together one Sunday a month in prayer, in communion with the Lord and one another. Through each celebration, with our Catechists accompanying us at important liturgical stages, we learn agape and forgiveness and to become, little by little, salt and light to everyone within and nearby the parish.

Today, just after about 50 years, the Way has taken root on all continents, in over 900 dioceses, and is springing up with thousands of intimate communities learning to listen, discern and obey the Word of God, week in, week out. Many Neocatechumens have embraced the life of Christ that has produced undeniable fruit, which includes many vocations: men called to the diocesan priesthood; ladies to religious orders; and even families with young children sent everywhere, especially where Christ is not welcome or has been abandoned.

Three Wise Men

“THE WAY GIVES ME THE COURAGE AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESONATE WHAT GOD IS SAYING AND DOING TODAY IN MY LIFE, WHICH BENEFITS ME OR MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.”

I began walking with the Lord when the 2016 catechesis gave birth to the first community. Through the “tripod” of the Word on Wednesdays, Eucharist on Saturdays and convivence (or retreat) every last Sunday of the month, I cherish these community meetings where I can listen to the Lord as He enlightens me through the breaking of the Word.
