Children’s Liturgy Ministry

VISION

That no child is deprived of receiving the Word of God which is their spiritual food.

As Jesus says,

"Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom
of heaven belongs to such as these.”

~ Matthew 19:14

MISSION

To make simple the Liturgy of the Word at Mass so that it becomes more relevant to children and they can take home and live the message of the Gospel.

Ministry proceedings

The ministry was initiated in 1998 during the season of Advent. At the end of the opening prayer at Mass, children in the church are invited to participate in receiving the Word of God separately at a prepared room with the leaders of the ministry. The Gospel of the Mass is proclaimed to the children and it's message delivered through various multimedia means. Children participate in the liturgy as prayer leaders and lectionary bearers as well as in liturgical music.

Parallel activities

Throughout the year, where possible, the ministry also organizes the following for children to participate:

  • Annual theme-based day-camps

  • Eucharistic adoration during the season of Lent

  • Stations of the Cross and Good Friday Services for children

  • Rosary recitation in the month of May

Children Praying

“IT IS A JOY SEEING THE WORD OF GOD COME ALIVE AND KNOWING THAT WE ARE PART OF A TEAM THAT HELPS BRING MEANING AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE GOSPEL TO THE YOUNG CHILDREN.”

It is a joy seeing the word of God come alive and knowing that we are part of a team that helps bring meaning and understanding of the Gospel to young children.
Seeing them able to relate and apply the scriptures to their daily life at home
and at school is really heart-warming and humbling.
